On a recent visit to Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld (GK2), we chanced upon the children enjoying a hearty meal. There wasn’t a single fussy eater in sight and each child seemed to be happily enjoying what had been served to them. We had to find out more…
Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld serves its little students a pre-planned, balanced meal every morning. Chef Nikhil of Eros Hotels oversees the weekly menu and trains the Chef to prepare a wholesome meal under the supervision of the Headmistress. The meals are all prepared in the in-house kitchen at the school.
The menu incorporates fresh fruits, vegetables and healthy beverages. It ensures that all children are served nutritional foods in appropriate amounts to meet their daily dietary needs. Each meal is cooked using fresh, seasonal produce and is prepared just before serving.
Before a meal is served, children are asked to wash and dry their hands, thus encouraging hygiene and healthy eating practices from very early on. No child at Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld is forced to eat a particular dish. There are plenty of options and variety given to children to allow them to choose what they want to eat. This gives them a sense of freedom to choose and encourages them to explore new tastes.
We spoke with the Headmistress of Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld – “The children all look forward to their meal times in school. We create a fun atmosphere by serving the food like they would eat at home with the family. They wash their hands, sit at the table and say their prayers. They are encouraged to eat on their own with no or minimum help from teachers. Once they finish their food, they put their plates away and go out for a little free play time. These are practices we instil from early on”.
Staff members claim that the children enjoy their glass of milk and happily ask for second helpings too. During birthday celebrations, parents bring cake and goodies for all the students. Children thoroughly enjoy being part of such exciting events.
Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld has grown into a bustling schooling since it first set foot in GK2. It now has a proud alumnus of children who are students in some of the most reputable schools in Delhi.
